Office For Foreign Missions (ad gentes) of the Province of Poland was established few years ago in order to support and promote ministry of Polish Vincentians working in foreign mission worldwide. Polish Vincentians work on various missions abroad since the very beginning of Province of Krakow (predecessor of present Province of Poland). At the beginning of 20th Century Confreres were sent for pastoral ministry among Polish immigrants in Brazil (Curitiba) and in the United States (New England). Right after WWI there was a community founded in France and Belgium to support Polish communities there. In 1930′s (1929 – 1949) Polish Vincentians joined other Confreres in China. Expelled from there more than twenty priests moved to Australia, New England and Curitiba. Almost 40 years ago Province of Poland sent first confreres to Madagascar. Ten years later Polish missionaries arrived to Zaire (presently Democratic Republic of Congo). From WWII up to Gulf War there were Polish Vincentians working in Iraq.
Main goal of the Secretariat is to promote foreign missions, support missionaries in countries where they work with some funds and other resources. Secretariat is involved in so called Friends of the Missions Circles gathering lay people willing to prayer for the missions and to support them.
On this site we’d like to present you places where Polish Vincentians worked and lived in the past and where they are running ministry presently. Here you will be able to learn about countries where they have been working as well as other topics regarding foreign missions. At the moment there are 14 priests working in seven countries considered as missionary countries.
Secretariat’s office is located in the Provincial House, ul. Stradom 4, PL 31-058 Kraków. For additional information about Polish Vincentians on foreign missions contact Fr.
